The Boardwalk, Dublin 1

The Boardwalk, first opened at the end of 1999, has proved to be one of the city's most successful Millennium projects. As well as allowing a pedestrian route close to the river and an opportunity to sit on one of the sun-drenched benches or quaff a coffee at riverside kiosk it gives a wonderful perspective of the south banks of the city.
Made famous by the TV show Bachelors Walk is the riverside road between the Ha'penny Bridge and O'Connell Bridge. It served as a commercial quay until the construction of O'Connell Bridge (then Carlisle Bridge) until 1795. From then it became a fashionable residential area for lawyers and solicitors.
Now you can stroll along the Liffey Boardwalk which runs along part of the northern bank of the Liffey.
