Dalkey Castle Heritage Centre

The Tudors are back!

They are alive and well and living at Dalkey Castle!

See the Dalkey Tudors as they go about their daily lives while under the shadow of the world's most notorious monarch.

Deilg Inis Living History Theatre Company is a professional Theatre Company based in Dalkey. They have been engaged at Dalkey Castle for six years now. The actors play their parts and stay in character through thick and thin. The conceit is that the characters all work in Goat Castle (as Dalkey Castle was called then) in the 1500s and 1600s. They vividly describe their chores and their daily lives. Their stories will enlighten and entertain you

It was the infamous Henry who combined the trades of Barber and Surgeon in 1540. In the Living History presentation The Tudor Barber Surgeon of Dalkey follows suit, with gruesome and often hilarious consequences. The tutor Archer defends the loyal Castle at Dalkey with his longbow. Hear all the terms of archery such as: ‘keep it under your hat', ‘another string to your bow', and of course the origins of the infamous V sign! The mdieval prepares a meal of Tudor delights. The Ghost of St. Begnet's graveyard alights in Tudor Ireland and a mystery unfolds.

Over the past 10 years I spend an average of 190 nights per annum in hotels throughout Europe and the USA, and the Trinity is my favourite hotel of all! The friendly staff and the accommodation make for an enjoyable stay.
