Aiken Promotions is delighted to present the return of UK songwriting sensation Ed Sheeran for his first headline Irish show since last year’s ecstatically received performance at Vicar Street.

Ed Sheeran has been one of the greatest breakthrough stories in recent years. His whirlwind story has seen the young artist rise from an independently released You Tube phenomenon to releasing the best-selling debut album of 2011, scooping numerous awards and scoring a string of hit singles along the way.

Having capped a series of self-funded EP releases with the release of Collaborations Number 5 in January 2011, Ed subsequently signed a worldwide record deal with Asylum Records.

Sheeran broke through commercially in June 2011, when his first single "The A Team" debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Buoyed by the chart success of the singles "The A Team" and "Lego House", his debut album + has been certified quadruple platinum in the UK and Ireland. Earlier this year, he won two BRIT Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough of the Year, while "The A Team" also won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Sheeran's debut album + was released on 12 September 2011. It debuted number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 102,000 copies in its first week. It became the second-best selling debut album in the UK, shifting 791,000 copies. The album climbed back up to number one on the UK Albums Chart on 1 January 2012, fifteen weeks after it last peaked at the top and has since been certified quadruple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for shipments of 1,200,000 units.

The song "Moments" on the debut album by boy band One Direction was co-written by Sheeran. In February 2012 Ed attended the Brit Awards and received the award for Best British Male Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough of the Year. He supported Snow Patrol on their United States tour from late March until May on the band's Fallen Empires Tour. His song "Give Me Love" was featured in the episode "Dangerous Liaisons" of The Vampire Diaries. At the 2012 Ivor Novello Awards in May, "The A Team" beat Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and Florence and the Machine's "Shake It Out", winning the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. He performed a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games on August 12th.

Ed is currently touring and promoting the album internationally, which has just been released in North America, reaching Number 1 on iTunes on the day of release, and reaching number 5 in the Billboard charts in the USA.

Over the past 10 years I spend an average of 190 nights per annum in hotels throughout Europe and the USA, and the Trinity is my favourite hotel of all! The friendly staff and the accommodation make for an enjoyable stay.
