Monster Truck Gallery and Studio, Dublin 8
Monster Truck Gallery and Studios was founded by a group of like-minded artist and designer friends, with the aim of creating a new, independent space for artistic activity.
Monster Truck Gallery and Studios is an artist run project founded by Peter Prendergast and Colm Mac Athlaoich in 2006. MTG&S currently supports eight artist's studios and two exhibition spaces in the center of Dublin City.
The project was initiated through a desire to respond to what seemed like an endless flow of creatives who wanted to produce work, have exhibitions and make things happen. Francis Street space became the locus of these creative energies and offered an open space in which ideas could be nurtured and facilitated.
The project grew well beyond initial expectations. MTG&S quickly developed as a support network for artists and gave a huge amount of artists the opportunity to create work in our studios and have exhibitions in the shop front gallery space.
Since 2006 Monster Truck has supported well over 400 artists; and have participated in collaborative projects, Art Fairs and Residencies and been recognized by several awards. All of these activities and achievements are testimony to the tireless efforts of both the Monster Truck team and the exhibiting artists who have worked with us over the last 4 years.
The most recent achievement is to secure a second high quality exhibition space in the heart of Dublin's Temple Bar. By the end of 2010 they will have facilitated 120 exhibitions showcasing and supporting graduate, emerging and established professional artists.
In four years they have developed from a group of artists with a lot of energy and a derelict building to an award-winning artist led organisation with renovated studios, a project space and a high quality gallery space.
