August 18th 2011: O2 announced today that Irish band, Westlife, will make a welcome return to ‘The O2' this year, to headline a one off gig, ‘O2 SmartSounds'.

Westlife will take to the stage at ‘The O2' on November 24th to play ‘O2 SmartSounds', a live social media gig, specially created by O2 to coincide with the introduction of its new Smartphone offer. From August 25th, customers who buy or upgrade to a Smartphone at O2 retail stores nationwide can get two free tickets to see Westlife on November 24th at ‘The O2', while tickets last.

Westlife have notched up a staggering 14 No. 1 singles and 11 albums throughout their 12-year career, with record sales of more than 44 million worldwide. With hit singles including, Flying Without Wings, Uptown Girl and You Raise Me Up, Westlife's appearance at O2 SmartSounds is certain to be an unforgettable event for their fans.

Westlife's Kian Egan said, "We're very excited about returning to ‘The O2' later this year for this special gig for O2 customers. O2 SmartSounds will be a very different gig with fans being able to request the songs they'd like to hear in advance and given unique opportunities throughout the night to interact with us. O2 SmartSounds is a gig for Smartphone users and one that will really demonstrate the power of these phones. In the run up to the event and at the gig itself, O2 Smartphone customers will be able to enter a number of competitions to win special surprises at the gig.
